The town of San Pedro de Atacama lies at the entrance to the driest desert on earth, the Atacama Desert. The town itself sits at an average of 2,407 metres, just over the threshold for altitude sickness, for humans. However this does not seem to be any issue for the resident flamingos, photographed here flying between the numerous salt lakes in the Atacama, looking for food.

The air is so clear and thin in the Atacama and the desert so flat, that its no wonder you can find one of earths biggest telescopes (ALMA) housed high up in the mountains. Those lucky enough to visit the desert can get a tour around the facility, but you need to book online and well in advance. But even if you don’t get in, not to worry you are so high up the nights sky will likely be one of the most amazing you’ll ever see.

GICLEE PRINTING: Hahnemuhle Photo Rag

With a weight of 308g/m² the Photo Rag is one of the most robust papers from Hahnemühle. It is made of 100% cotton and has a matte surface. With its soft, fine texture, this paper is very versatile and is just as suited to colour prints as it is to black and white photographs. Photorag is suitable for mounting but its cotton texture means edges can fray if not carefully handled.

UNFRAMED: Please note that these prints are sold unframed but does contain the white border as seen. Total size of the print is as selected including the white border.
