It was coming to the end of our drive in Kruger, when we heard about a Cheetah nearby, ironically we made a dash to get there prior to light completely going and found this beautiful cheetah just taking a moment.

With most of their hunting done during the day and reaching speeds up 50-80mph in short stints, (80-128 km/h), cheetahs take a well earned rest as the nights start to draw in. Later, they will find a safe spot to sleep, otherwise they may risk becoming prey of other large cats in the vicinity. Cheetahs while a large cat, are vulnerable to Lion and Leopard attacks themselves. So it really is a case of the hunter becoming the prey if they are not careful.
