As the rains cleared one morning, this wild dog emerged from the little shelter it had and started to scan the area looking for its prey.

African wild dogs live in large, sociable and incredibly loyal packs. Dominated by a breeding pair, the female will typically have a litter of between 2 and
20 pups that are subsequently cared for by the rest of the pack. It is not uncommon for the pack to share food, assist weak and ill members, or have frequent social interactions characterised by touch and action.

Hunting in intimidating packs of between 6 and 20, African wild dogs will hunt antelope and sometimes even larger prey like wildebeests, while complementing their diet with rodents and birds.
